Permanent US Occupation of Afghanistan Planned

The US plans permanent occupation of Afghanistan and other countries worldwide. After reneging on its earlier announced May 1 withdrawal, Biden’s impersonator on Wednesday said US troops will be gone from Afghanistan by September 11.

It’s weeks shy of the 20th anniversary of Bush/Cheney’s aggression on the nonbelligerent country, unjustifiably justified by the 9/11 mother of all Big Lies to that time. Afghanistan is occupied by Pentagon regular troops, special forces, CIA operatives, other US dark forces and so-called private military contractors (PMCs). If Pentagon foot soldiers leave, remaining US elements will stay in the country, largely covertly.

Washington values Afghanistan strategically and for its resources. Potentially worth trillions of dollars in economic value, US policymakers have no intention of relinquishing what they want corporate America to profit from. Afghanistan resources include barite, chromite, coal, cobalt, copper, gold, iron ore, lead, enormous amounts of highly-valued lithium and other rare earth metals vital for high tech products, natural gas, oil, precious and semi-precious stones, potash, salt, sulfur, talc, zinc, among other minerals.

The US also wants oil and gas pipelines constructed across Afghanistan. It wants its territory used as part of a plan to encircle Russia and China, along with maintaining opium production used for heroin. Post-9/11, the US restored Afghanistan’s opium economy the Taliban eliminated in the 1990s. It’s a bonanza for money-laundering Western banks and the CIA — Langley profiting greatly from drugs trafficking as a revenue source.

US war on Afghanistan and permanent occupation was planned long before 9/11. It won’t end unless Taliban fighters inflict enough harm on America’s presence in the country to arouse US public opinion against continuing Washington’s long ago lost war.

Almost a decade ago, US Lt. Col. Daniel Davis spent weeks in the country. His unclassified report said the following: “How many more men must die in support of a mission that is not succeeding? … Senior ranking US military leaders have so distorted the truth when communicating with the US Congress and American people in regards to conditions on the ground in Afghanistan that the truth has become unrecognizable… This deception has damaged America’s credibility among both our allies and enemies, severely limiting our ability to reach a political solution to the war in Afghanistan.

His classified report was more damning, saying: “If the public had access to these classified reports, they would see the dramatic gulf between what is often said in public by our senior leaders and what is actually true behind the scenes… It would be illegal for me to discuss, use, or cite classified material in an open venue, and thus I will not do so.”

Based on what he learned from US commanders, subordinates, low-ranking soldiers, Afghan officials, civilians and village elders, Davis said Taliban fighters control “virtually every piece of land beyond eyeshot of a US or International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) base.” Calling the tactical situation on the ground “abysmal,” he witnessed “the absence of success on virtually every level.”

Yet endless war continues after nearly 20 years of raping, destroying and plundering the country — things on the ground worse now than years earlier. Wednesday’s announcement by Biden’s impersonator continued Washington’s mass deception about reality in Afghanistan and US intentions toward the country. Taliban officials said they’ll boycott further talks with the Biden regime until US forces are gone.

After his impersonator’s announcement on Wednesday, White House press secretary refused to say if announced withdrawal of US troops include special forces — because they’re staying — along with CIA operatives, other US dark forces and PMCs — not leaving. Pentagon special forces operate covertly and overtly in around two-thirds of world community countries. According to analyst Nick Turse, preemptive US wars on invented enemies increasingly rely on “special operations forces, private contractors, local proxies working with and for the military and CIA, and air power.”

Comprising most of the US presence in Afghanistan, they’ll remain if and when Pentagon foot soldiers are withdrawn. Much of what they’re involved in is covert. All of it is up to no good — exploiting the country and its people, including by crimes of war and against humanity.

After nearly 20 years of US aggression and occupation, Taliban officials know what they’re up against in dealing with belligerent, duplicitous USA. According to Taliban commander Mullah Salih Khan, his fighters are “prepared to strike” US and its proxy Afghan forces as long as Afghanistan remains occupied beyond when Pentagon forces are supposed to entirely withdrawn  — vowing to make conditions “nightmar(ish)” for them.

Earlier this year, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid tweeted: “If the agreement (reached in February 2020) is breached and foreign forces fail to exit our country, problems will certainly be compounded and those who failed to comply with the agreement will be held liable.”

Endless US aggression in Afghanistan and other US war theaters is highly likely to continue. Based on their hostile actions so far since replacing Trump in January, one or more new US preemptive wars are likely to be launched. Both right wings of the US war party reject world peace and stability. A permanent state of war in multiple theaters is longstanding US policy, notably post-9/11.
